Exposure Codes Defined The exposures field in the models and locations areas contains an encapsulated code which describes what body parts of the subject are exposed. In a sense the exposures are produced by the placement of the fashion lines on the body. These codes vary from one to six letters and relate to six areas of the body, as follows: Top = exposure of the neck, shoulders, upper chest, and cleavage of the breasts. This exposure also relates to straps, and to backage, but it does not imply exposure of the areola (areolage) or the nipple (nippage). Cleavage is not required to qualify Top, but the exposure should at least rest on the brink of cleavage to qualify. Midriff = exposure of the stomach, belly, central back, including above and below the navel. The exposure of the midriff is called bellage and the exposure of the upper buttocks is called rugage. Exposures particular to the navel are called navelage. Leg = exposure of one or both leg, usually only logged if the leg is exposed above the knee. This is called leggage. Breast = exposure of the full breast, areola, and nipple, as with a topless female. This exposure's formal name is breastage, but in popular terms it is referred to as topless. Chest = exposure of the full chest of a barechested male. Adipose = exposure of the buttock, as with wearing a g-string or tanga, and including when the buttocks is nude or bottomless. The gradient of this exposure is called buttage. The exposure of the cleaft of the buttocks is called rugage. Pubis = exposure of the pubic region below the navel is called pubage. This includes the pelvis and the pubic region and may be hairy or shaven. The exposure of the pubic hair, especially when it is seen external to a culotte, is called hairage. The exposure of the open-legged region is called crotage; in Bikini Science this term is usually used for subjects who are wearing culottes, as opposed to "vagflash," as with subjects only in miniskirts. None = no exposures except for the possibility of the arms and the legs below the knee; the body is covered. Exposure Coding Style Rules Exposures are always logged in a specific sequence, and that sequence, in full is TMLBAP, which describes the fullest exposure, totally nude. The consistancy of sequence faciliates searching for single exposures as well as combinations. A sample set of possibilities, and example costumes follows: T, a low-cut evening dress, with or without straps, with any amount of cleavage. M, a croptop and jeans that shows only bellage. L, a high-neckline minidress that shows only leggage. TM, a halter worn with jeans. TL, a maillot. ML, a croptop and shorts. LA, a shirt and a tanga. TML, a bikini. TMB, topless and jeans. TMC, male barechested and jeans. MLA, a croptop and tanga. LAP, a shirt and bottomless. TMLB, a topless culotte. TMLA, a tanga bikini. TMLBA, a topless tanga. TMLBAP, nude (topless plus bottomless). Quantification of Line Position Quantification of the position of the fashion lines provides a method of tracking their movement over the body over time. Classic studies in the field have focused on relationships of hemline to economic variables, the availability of fabric and social conditions. Other studies have focused on neckline and the exposure of breasts. Bikini Science includes analysis of the waistline, and the legline as it applies to the exposure of the hip and pubis. All such research requires a stable baseline; for example, the inches of bellage above or below navel, or the inches of legline above knee. The latter has often been used by lawmakers to regulate leggage. Thus in addition to the exposure code, the Exposures Field may also contain qualatative and quantative exposure information. Qualatative comments note excessive cleavage, cheeking of the buttocks, hairage, exposure of armpits and inguinal, and accidental exposures. Quantative information includes the number of inches of midriff expososed below the navel (when this is the case). The exposure of bellage below navel is represented as "N-3", which means that three inches of belly are exposed below the navel. Note that the expression "N-0" indicates that the navel itself is partly exposed. Future researchers may wish to verify hypothesis concerning the amount of cleavage exposed, the aggrigate bellage exposed, and variations in the exposure of leg, inguinal, and hip. |
