Actions
Front (1) and rear view (2) of the lavish Roman Baths in what is now Syria show the state of the art 2500 years ago and 500 years before Christ. A plan of the interior (3) shows the elements of the building including a rectangular main hall (B) with a balcony, a number of smaller rooms for both hot and cold bathing, and a cafe (C).

Commentary
These Baths were built by a wealthy citizen named Julianos, and his wife, Domna--a rare instance of private patronage. This strucuture is one of the best preserved bathing structures from the entire Roman realm.
