Olive Borden Lattice-side Costume

Hollywood, CA
c. 1927 OB2710

Costume
Maillot lattice-side with cape and short heels.

   TML. Cleavage.

Actions
Delectable Olive Borden wears this shockingly brief maillot. Threaded down the side like a shoe and tied at the legline, Ms. Borden exposes a strip of skin from her shoulder and underarm to her leg and angle (1). A deep, generous v-cut neckline is similarly constrained.

Commentary
Nicknamed "The Joy Girl." silent screen star Olive Borden begins her career as one of Mack Sennett's bathing beauties in 1922 and soon thereafter appears as a vamp in Hal Roach comedy shorts. In 1925 producer Paul Bern chooses her for a role in his film The Dressmaker In Paris. She is signed by Fox after being named a WAMPAS Baby Star in 1925 (along with cousin Natalie Joyce), and is on her way to become one of their most popular and highest paid stars of the silent era.
Many of her deux-pièces dance costumes at Fox involve baring her belly.
