Actions Hamilton King (1871-1952) becomes one of American's most popular illustrators in the early decades of the 20th century and his illustrations of pretty girls acquire such a distinctive style that they come to be called "Hamilton King Girls." This collection of bathing beauties from a 1907 postcard series depicts a variety of bathing dress styles of the time. Each gal in the collection also showcases one of the East Coast's numerious ocean resorts, in including: "Atlantic City Girl," (1), "Narragansett Pier Girl," (2), "Cape May Girl, " (3), "Manhattan Beach Girl" (4), "Ocean Grove Girl" (5), "Bar Harbor Girl" (6), "Asbury Park Girl" (7), "Larchmont Girl" (8), "Palm Beach Girl" (9), "Newport Girl (10), "Long Branch Girl" (11), and "Coney Island Girl" (12). The concentration of these resorts from Rhode Island south through Long Island, New Youk and down the New Jersey short to Cape May is indicitative of the concentration of these beach locales at this time, with only Palm Beach in Florida attached far to the south.
