What is Bikiniology? Bikiniology is the lore of the bikini. Bikiniology addresses some of the various design details other than the species of the bikini. The Romance of Closure Foremost among these are issues of closure: issues of the types and placement of fasteners, and issues of tieology, including unties, reties, and the dynamics of the altered swimsuit. Structural Concerns Bikiniology is the place that ideas about structural concerns are gathered. These include the materials bikinis are made of, with special discussions about see-through, mesh, transparency, crochet, shells and metals. Foundation and construction is also a theme here, as is layers of clothing. Equivalent Exposures Tans and tan lines, the equivalent exposure of underwear, and tags are all gathered together under the Equivalent Exposures section.
