   This bathtub, an early example of a private bathing facility, is located is what is thought to be the 60 room palace of King Nestor. This terra cotta bathtub is decorated with spiral patterns and contains a broken kylix (1).
   Homer, writing in the Odyssey, describes a visit to King Nestor by Telemachus in which the weary sailor is bathed by Polycaste, Nestor's beautiful daughter. This is hypothesized to be the site of Telemachus's bath.

Commentary
   Nestor's palace is destroyed by fire around 1200 BC.
