Faux beach, Paris, France c. 1920s VG00T0_0766 Costume Topless maillot pantaloon. Hat. Parasol. TLB. Bare arms, legs, breasts. Cameltoe. Actions Super Girl 766 poses as if a casual topless, except the exposure is designed into the bathing suit (1). This is not a bathing suit drawn apart at the front center (2). It one takes this sweetheart to the beach, or even interacts with her at the faux beach here, one can see that 766 can't cover herself up if she wants to--there isn't enough maillot, and the porthole is sewn opened (3). The front straps are an important part of the costume (4), as the revelation of belly button (5). The parasol is an important prop because it makes a statement about the sun and the tan (with two tinting variations, 6, 7). This is a faux beach (8), but 766 dares one to think about the real beach. Commentary Topless is frequently part of the job description of the swimsuit poser, especially when it comes to playing the role of bad girls. 766 here is neither just a swimsuit model, and nor is she just art nude model; it is the mix of these two genres that contribute to cheesecake. The exposure is equally deliberate to Rudi Gernreich's topless maillot 40 years later. Source Hand tinted color and B&W postcards, Super, Paris, c. 1920.
