Paris c. 1920s VG0064BS Costume Hand-tinted solid color maillot pantaloon swimsuits. Parasols. Hats. Shoes. TL. Some barefoot. Actions Flapper bathing beauties of the 1920s adorn these hand-tinted postcards from Paris. Many of these maillots are thinner and looser fitting. #65 sports a lace tie center front and at the sides of the legs. She is also barefoot (1). #89 claims a parasol and provides several different hand-tinted alternatives (2, 3, 4, 5). Commentary As the 1920s progress the legline rises, armholes increase in size, and the belt becomes an accessory. These swimsuits almost deserve to be labeled tank maillots.
