Ellen Koeniger Form-through When Wet

Lake George, New York
1916 EK1610

Costume
Bathing black sleeveless maillot pantaloon. Bandana cathing cap.

TL (knees and calves). Bare arms, armpit. Wet. Cleavage side. Headlights.

Actions
This dripping wet young lady climbing out of the water wears a provocative swimsuit: bare legs, arms, an armhole that displays cleavage, knots on the straps, and sufficiently form fitting (especially when wet) to outline nipples and belly button (1). No skirt on these pantaloons.

Commentary
This is a thinner look than what Annette Kellerman looked like when she was arrested in Boston in 1907 (AK0750); nine years ago, with bare arms, knees and calves. We don't see feet in the picture but they are implied to be bare. Undoubtedly in the years in between a thinning of the maillot pantaloon has also occurred.

Source
Alfred Stieglitz, photographer, "Ellen Koeniger," Lake George, 1916. From. "Unseen Stieglitz, New Yorker, 1995, who reports on "Alfred Stieglitz at Lake George" at the Museum of Modern Art and credits the picture courtesy of the National Gallery of Art, Washington, Alfred Stieglitz Collection. Activetravels.com states that Stieglitz made at least four shots of Koeniger, "We see a dripping wet woman climbing onto the dock from the lake in a relaxed and carefree manner not usually associated with Stieglitz's earlier work." But we don't know if Koeniger is a model, socialite, or stranger, but we do know this is stage of the art swimsuit eroticia. 1 picture.
