   Bathing dresses shortsleeved with bloomers, hose, and hats. Ladies wearing corsets, men in suits, children in hats and bonnets. Parasols.

Actions
   On a bustling day on the beach, some swim, some walk, some socialize, and the children play (1). Note the artist with his paint box and chair.

Commentary
   Like Coney Island, the resorts of France become quite crowded at the end of the 1800s. Note the grand hotel ahead and to the west. Compare this teaming mass of humanity to Brighton, across the Channel (BB188810).
