Hornbaek Beach, Denmark 1900 PF190010 Costume Pink coat off over while sheeveless full length dress and white hat. Rolled down and topless striped dress over white teddy. Parasol. White teddy or strapped maillot pantaloon. Pink teddy or strapped maillot pantaloon. Arms. TMB. TL. TL. Actions A group of four bathers wade into the sea (1). The woman to the left removes her jacked and reveals bare arms. One woman in the ocean and one headed there wear what could be underwear or a pantalooned maillot. A woman in the foreground faces away from us and has unbuttoned her skirt and underwear, and let it fall down to her waist, so she may sit topless. Commentary A combination of a pastoral seascape scene with the titillation of strip tease. The bathers stretch decency in their costumes, but the topless suggests that perhaps there are no men around and this is a sex-segregated beach.
