Faux beach, New York 1895 MM189510 Costume Bathing dress shortsleeved bloomerless and tights. Arms. Legs above knee but in tights (legs betight). Actions This young lass clasps her hands in front of her (1). Commentary This is our oldest example of the bathing dress shortsleeved bloomerless. Even before the turn of the century the more trendy young women are abandoning the more constructing bathing dresses. Hatless, and with bare arms and stocking feet, this apparently innocent lass borders on whorish. This style will not become even remotely respectable until after the turn of the century, but it will catch on, as well the sleeveless variety.
